Home Fellowships

We have six Home Fellowships meeting at various homes in the area on different week nights starting soon and it's not too late to sign-up or join! These gatherings give us an opportunity to get to know others at the chapel and also to grow in the Lord. Topics include: The Book of Ephesians, Believer Basics, The Book of Acts, Seeking, Serving and Sharing Christ, The Book of Hebrews, and Shepherding a Child's Heart.

Coffee Hour/Bible Study - Wednesdays, 9:40 A.M.

This Bible Study group meets on Wednesday mornings at 9:40 a.m. during the school season. This is a great time for retirees and people of all ages. Many faithfully attend and all are always welcomed. We begin with coffee, tea, and pastries; sing a few songs; and then, using the Chapel prayer sheets, we cover every prayer request and take additional requests. We finish the hour with a solid Bible study and this Fall we are studying the Book of Acts.

Christmas Choir

Each Christmas the Christmas Choir is assembled to perform a cantata for DMGC family and friends during the 11:00 AM Family Bible Hour. The performance is usually the Sunday prior to Christmas and is intended to be a celebration of the advent of Christ. For questions, please contact Shari Goodwin or the Chapel office.

NW Missionary Focus - 2nd Saturday of every month

NW Missionary Focus is part of our missionary outreach. It is time to learn each month what's happening on the mission field, abroad and locally, and then to pray for our various missionaries. One or two missionaries are featured speakers each month where they share about what the Lord is doing in the country in which they are serving. They always have exciting and fascinating news to share about their work. NW Missionary Focus meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month, usually at 7:00 p.m., rotating among several different chapels, including DMGC.

Des Moines Food Bank

Currently housed in the Des Moines United Methodist Church at 22225 9th Avenue South, the Food Bank reaches out to many people. Lots of help is required to adequately serve the community. Des Moines Gospel Chapel gives both financially and personnel-wise.

Library

The DMGC Library is more than a collection of books; it is a ministry! The Library serves both children and adults (just off the main lobby). The hundreds of books, freely available to all, cover a broad range of interests, fiction and non-fiction, commentaries and topical titles.

Spiritual Counseling & Premarital Preparation

Here at Des Moines Gospel Chapel, we are committed to the family and their special needs in today's society. Our pre-marital preparation program is designed to help young couples considering marriage to objectively review all facets of marriage and clarify Biblical roles and responsibilities. Experienced spiritual counseling is available when family relationships are hurting. Please feel free to call the Chapel (206-878-2145) and we will be happy to arrange counseling.

Union Gospel Mission - 2nd & 3rd Sunday of every month

For more than 40 years, the assembly at Des Moines Gospel Chapel has participated in the preaching of the gospel at the Union Gospel Mission. We have consistently supported this work financially, and provided speakers and music two Sundays each month. Many have professed faith in Christ, and many have been counseled about their spiritual problems.

Des Moines Vista Retirement Center - 2nd & 3rd Sunday of every month

Des Moines Vista Retirement Center is a wonderful place. You'll find many people there glad to see you. Sitting down to talk with them, offering a warm handshake, asking them about the "good old days"... all these things draw them out and make the gospel more likely to be discussed and taken seriously. The second and third Sunday afternoons of every month are golden opportunities to serve and be served at Des Moines Vista!
